Kinross Wolaroi Students Represent at CIS Cross Country Championships

We are proud to share the achievements of four Kinross Wolaroi School students who represented AICES at the 2025 CIS Cross Country Championships, held on 12 June at Horsley Park.

Maxwell Horne (16 Boys) ran a strong race, finishing in 24th place overall with a time of 23:26. Maxwell was also the 7th fastest AICES runner in his age group, demonstrating impressive consistency and grit.

Skye Napier (14 Girls) put in a fantastic performance, placing 10th overall and 2nd among the AICES competitors, with a time of 14:47. Skye’s result highlights her growing presence in the sport. Skyes performance in the top 10 sees her off to the State Championships.

Holly Hutchinson (15 Girls) finished with a solid time of 15:29, placing 22nd overall and 9th within the AICES team. Her perseverance and determination were on full display throughout the race.

Anna Orr (17 Girls) produced one of the standout performances of the day, crossing the line in 18:29 to place 50th overall and 13th for AICES. Anna’s effort capped off a strong day for Kinross athletes.

Congratulations to all four students for their commitment, courage, and excellence in representing both AICES and Kinross Wolaroi School on the state stage.

A big thank you to the wonderful parents who support their children in this sport, you are as busy as they are at events like this, not to mention the build-up beforehand.

A special mention to Mrs Rachel Goodsir for coordinating feeding our camp, Mrs Sarah Woodhouse for her continued support of the team and Dr and Mrs Parry for making the journey to Coonabarabran to watch the students participate and for hosting a wonderful dinner for the team.

Rugby

As we approach the end of the regular ISA season, it is timely to recognise our boys who were recently selected to represent the ISA in the NSW Schoolboy Championships. Oscar Cleary and Harper Shaw have been selected in the ISA 1st XV. In the ISA U16s we had Will Kirby, Maddox Bruem, Henry Luelf, Sam Hill and Tom Tink all selected. We wish these boys the best of luck next week.

Our girls continue to go from strength to strength and have put the Canberra competition on notice. All three of our Girls teams have played attractive Rugby and all look Finals bound. With all three Girls teams at home again this week, we look forward to some big results.

Our boys will travel down the hill to Bathurst this weekend and we are highly motivated to come away from St Stanislaus' with plenty of wins. It is always a great day of Rugby and with them hosting their Old Boys' Day, we expect a big crowd cheering for the other side. As usual we know our boys will play hard and fast, and with the right spirit will show how proud we are to be part of the Kinross Rugby family.

Bring on Saturday!

Dance Team at Dubbo Eisteddfod

On Thursday the 17 June the Kinross Wolaroi School Dance Team travelled to Dubbo to compete in the Dubbo Eisteddfod. We entered two different dances into the Secondary Schools category, which ranged from dancers aged 12-18. KWS Troupe A competed a jazz piece to the song Eye Of The Tiger (remix), and their efforts showed, placing them 3rd! The Kinross Dance Team competed a beautiful lyrical routine to the song “Stay Alive”, which placed 2nd! Both routines were choreographed by Lara Duncan and we are greatly appreciative of all her encouragement and teaching to create these amazing routines. We congratulate all dancers who competed in Dubbo Eisteddfod, and many thanks to all who made it possible for us to attend.
