Our wonderful ensembles and Year 12 musicians entertained an appreciative audience on Thursday 5 June at the Senior School Music Festival, which featured repertoire from classical to jazz and contemporary. They were treated to an evening of outstanding performances from concert band, orchestra, stage band, string orchestra, choirs, strings and brass ensembles, chapel band and soloists in a relaxed cabaret atmosphere. Our sincere thanks to all those who contributed to this successful evening. Bravo to our wonderful musicians!
Drama and Music students from Years 9 – 12 recently showcased their wonderful performance skills to a large and appreciative audience of parents and friends. Students from these classes performed both individual and group works that had been prepared in Drama and Music classes. Congratulations to our amazing students and thanks to Performing Arts staff for their work in preparing these performances.
Thank you to our wonderful Year 11 students and parents, who provided lots of fabulous cakes and slices at our Performing Arts Showcase. We raised nearly $700 which will go towards the purchase of a new Grand Piano for the Performance Theatre.
Help Us Hit the Right Note for Future Generations!
Music is at the heart of Kinross Wolaroi School. From enchanting Junior School performances to inspiring HSC recitals, our students shine thanks to a vibrant music program and the instruments that support it.
Our beloved grand piano—after 45 years of faithful service—is nearing the end of its musical journey. We are now raising funds to purchase a new, top-quality grand piano that will serve our community for the next 50 years and beyond.
This instrument will become a centrepiece of performances from Kindergarten to Year 12 and a legacy for future generations.

Chamber Choir- Section 105 Youth Vocal Ensemble
Score: 95
Placement: 2nd Place
Comments: Repertoire: For the beauty of the earth (Rutter) Wide Open Space (Quartel) Congratulations on your performance This is a fine choir which enjoys clear, musical and sensitive direction. ‘For the beauty of the earth’ began with a lovely, healthy, well-produced the vocal tone in the solo line, helped by the vowels being very well matched and blended. When the tenors and basses entered, there was good balance between the upper and lower voices. Throughout the piece, the choir maintained an excellent legato which is so important for this genre. The calm tempo allowed the detail in the music to come through and for the singers to have the space to navigate the leaps with care and precision In ‘Wide open spaces’, I enjoyed the sound which was rich, grounded and open, especially in the second verse. I would encourage the tenors and basses to make their entry a little bit more gentle, feeling that they are taking over from calm of the first verse and then expanding the sound world. There was a great range of dynamics and very disciplined consonants made it easy to understand the words The choir sings with good intonation throughout and the conductor provides strong and fluent rhythmic direction. VOX- Section 108 Mixed Voices Choir
Score: 94
Placement: 3rd Place
Comments: Repertoire: Remember Me from Coco (Anderson-Lopez and Lopez, arr. Emerson) White Winter Hymnal (Pecknold, arr. Billingsley) Thank you for your performance which I enjoyed listening to. Congratulations to the lower voices for a good opening to ‘Remember me’ - this was a natural and unforced vocal tone. Throughout the piece, there was good ensemble, both the togetherness and the phrasing which was well directed by the conductor. The accompaniment was sensitive and supportive. The choir displayed a good connection with the emotional arc of the piece. Occasionally, the upper register notes towards the end of phrases would benefit from a more open sound with breath support. I enjoyed the attention to the soft dynamics throughout. White Winter Hymnal provided a good contrast and it was nice to see the choristers enjoying singing this piece. The harmonies were mostly well handled - just be careful on the descending phrases that each of the notes in the chord ‘lock in’. Sam Allchurch
