From the

Head of  Senior School

Dear BMGS Senior School Community,

As we move into the final week of Term 2, we take a moment to reflect on the term that was - one filled with energy, growth, and a strong sense of community.

A particular highlight in recent weeks was the Winter Ball, a memorable evening where our senior students came together to celebrate in style. It was a joy to see them presenting themselves with such confidence, kindness, and maturity. These shared experiences are so valuable in building friendships and school spirit, and I extend my sincere thanks to all staff, parents, and students who made the event such a success.

Throughout the term, the Senior School has been abuzz with activity and achievement. Students took part in a diverse range of opportunities, including the Senior School Production, a number of excursions and incursions, the vibrant Year 7 and 8 Showcases, and the fiercely contested Athletics Carnival. Our involvement in ISA sport also continued with great spirit, teamwork and resilience on display across a wide range of codes. From the classroom to the sports field, from performance spaces to outdoor education camps, it has been heartening to see students actively engaging and making the most of all that is on offer.

A significant academic milestone has also been reached with the finalisation of Semester 1 reports for Years 7–10. These reports are an opportunity for students and families to reflect on progress, celebrate achievements, and set goals for the term ahead. Thank you to our staff for the thoughtful and constructive feedback they provide to support each student’s learning journey.

As we look ahead to Term 3, we do so with a mix of excitement and reflection- particularly for our Year 12 students, who are about to begin their final term of schooling. It is a significant time in their lives, filled with emotion, focus, and a growing sense of what lies beyond the school gates. We look forward to walking beside them as they complete their final assessments, prepare for the HSC, and take part in the many events that will celebrate their time at BMGS.

For now, however, we wish all of our students and families a safe, restful and restorative holiday break. Whether travelling, relaxing at home, working part-time, volunteering, or simply enjoying time with loved ones, we hope the next two weeks offer a valuable pause and a chance to recharge.

Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to welcoming students back for a vibrant and purposeful Term 3.

Best regards,

Alicia Michielsen
