From the Head of Sport

Head of Sport Report

What a fantastic weekend of games to wrap up the term! Our teams showed great determination, teamwork, and sportsmanship across all matches. It’s been a busy and successful term of sport, and we’re proud of everyone's efforts.

As we head into the holidays, we want to remind all players to stay active and keep up your fitness. When we return, we’ll have just three weeks of games before finals, so it’s important to come back ready to train hard and perform at your best.

Make sure you’re prepared for Week 1 training – bring your gear, energy, and commitment as we push towards the finals.

Enjoy a safe and restful break. Have a great holiday!

Congratulations

Hockey

Congratulations to James Reynolds on his recent success in school representative hockey. James was honoured to be selected as captain of the NSWCIS U19 hockey team, leading his side with determination and pride. Despite a tough match against CHS and a hard-fought draw with CCC, James' performance stood out.

As a result, he was selected for the NSW All Schools U19 Merit Team – a fantastic achievement and recognition of his skill and leadership on the field. A fitting end to James’ school hockey career.

While there is no national series or championships for this team due to the 16 age group being the SSA pathway, being named in the merit side is a significant accomplishment, and James should be very proud of the recognition.  Well done, James!

Basketball

A huge congratulations to Zarah Snedden, who represented our school and NSWCIS as a referee at the NSW PSSA Girls Basketball Championships this week.

Zarah wrapped up her time at CIS with a strong performance, officiating four games on Tuesday and two playoff games on Thursday. She described it as a fantastic experience, saying, “I had a great time, met lots of new people, and I’m definitely glad I went.”

A highlight of the event was a one-hour mentoring session with James Boyer, an international basketball referee who has officiated at two Olympic Games, as well as in the NBL, NBA, and WNBA. James watched the student referees in action and provided valuable feedback, advice, and encouragement.

Congratulations to Zarah for stepping outside her comfort zone and making the most of this opportunity—it is an experience she will not forget. Well done, Zarah!

Athletics

ISA Athletics Carnival – Term 3 (September) Reminder

The ISA Athletics Carnival is coming up in Term 3. If you have been selected for the BMGS Athletics Team, your name will be posted on the Sports Noticeboard next week. Make sure to check the list and stay up to date.

Over the holidays,  I encourage all selected athletes to train regularly, stay active, and be ready to perform. This is a great opportunity to represent BMGS, so get involved and attend - train hard in preparation for the carnival.

Remember if you have done something great in sport drop me an email mharris@bmgs.nsw.edu.au
