Principals Report

As We Near the End of Term…

It’s hard to believe we are already approaching the end of term — the time has flown! I’d like to take a moment to thank everyone in our school community for their continued support, and in particular, extend a huge thank you to the many local businesses who welcomed and supported our Year 10 students during their work placement this week.

Work experience provides students with valuable insights into the world beyond the classroom. It allows them to explore potential career pathways, develop new skills, and build confidence in real-world environments. We are so grateful for the generosity of our local community in helping our students take this important step in their learning journey.

A huge congratulations to the 24 Glen Innes High School students who competed at the North West Cross Country Trials. Your effort, determination, and sportsmanship were outstanding, and we are incredibly proud of how well you all performed. Best of luck to the six students who placed in the top positions and will now represent our region at the next level of competition in Sydney — we know you’ll do us proud!

Our senior Physics students also had the opportunity to engage in a unique learning experience at Siding Springs Observatory, focusing on Astronomy and Astrophysics. This hands-on excursion provided a rich and inspiring educational opportunity, and we sincerely thank our P&C for providing financial support to assist families in making this trip possible.

A reminder that Glen Innes High School is a uniform-proud school. Wearing the school uniform every day promotes a sense of identity, belonging, and equality among students. It helps to maintain a focused and respectful learning environment. As we head into the holiday period, we encourage families to check that students are ready for Term 3 with the correct school uniform.

We are also encouraging all students to finish the term strongly by giving their best in every classroom. Whether it’s preparing for assessments, completing classwork, or engaging in discussions, academic effort matters. When students commit to doing their best, they build resilience, deepen their understanding, and set themselves up for future success. Every student has the potential to achieve — and it starts with consistent effort and a positive attitude.

As always, we remind families of the importance of regular school attendance. Every day counts — school is where students not only learn but also build vital social connections and life-long skills. While we understand the desire to travel or take a break, we kindly ask that holidays be planned during the scheduled breaks. Unless a student is unwell or has a justified absence, it is essential they attend school every day until the end of term.

Our staff are here to support students and families. If you have any concerns or questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to myself, the front office, or your child’s teacher.

Thank you for working with us to support your child’s learning, and we look forward to a successful and enjoyable end of term.

Warm regards,

Natalie Hill
