Miss Langley - Senior Classroom Teacher
In Literacy, we have been studying the text "Iron Man" by Ted Hughes. The students are learning the four sentence types; statement, command, question and exclamation and how they differ and can be used to convey different emotions in the reader. We completed a Cold Write this morning, where students write a piece of text without my guidance to see how and what they will write. They did an excellent job of using their imagination and staying focused for a full 60 minutes - it can be tough!
In Mathematics, we have focused on learning about multiplication and division and how they work so seamlessly to complete one another. Division can be a tough topic for students to understand but they have all been great at persevering and are really beginning to comprehend the operations and their rules. Our focus in multiplication has been on skip counting and our 3 times tables, so if you feel like testing your student, give the 3's a go! Some of our more senior students have been working on four and three digit multiplication and when to insert the 'magic zero'. In division we have looked at dividing two digit numbers by a one digit number with and without regrouping with the help of MAB blocks.
We hope you have a great week!
