Principal Report

Oatlands from My Point of View
We are coming up to the halfway mark of the 2025 school year and looking forward to the opportunities to learn and grow in Semester 2. This time of the school year provides a great checkpoint for everyone to assess our progress and re-establish our focus for the next 6 months. All our key indicators around student learning and wellbeing have been very positive and we believe we are well placed overall to complete a successful 2025.
Road Safety & Courtesy in our Community
As we all know, Oatlands is a very busy place around 9:00am and 3:30pm. With this comes increased risks. It is always important that we remind ourselves of this and we take extra care. Please cross the road safely, especially Kurrajong Rd. Using the designated school crossings is the safest practice and where children without an adult should be crossing. Another reminder is that we must practice patience when it comes to parking, ensuring that we always display courtesy and respect. Finally, please be respectful of our neighbours. Avoid parking across driveways, on nature strips or in front of homes for lengthy periods of time.
Student Reports & Parent Teacher Meetings
Semester 1 Student Reports will be made available on Compass on Friday 4th July. Parent Teacher & Student Focused meetings will be held in the second week of Term 3, with bookings opening in the first week of Term 3. These meetings provide an excellent opportunity for families to discuss their child’s progress and set goals for Semester 2. More information will be sent out when bookings open.
Cross Country
Last week, Sia & Moksha from Grade 5 and Vinuk from Grade 6 represented Oatlands in the Southern Metropolitan Region Cross Country event. Having qualified through the Oatlands trials, Edwin Flack District and Casey North Division events, making it to the Regionals event was a huge achievement. Up against very tough competition, all 3 students performed admirably and we are extremely proud of them. Congratulations and well done.
Interschool Sport Gala Day
Last week we had our district’s interschool sport Gala Day. This is the final event for our Grade 6 students participating in AFL 9s, Soccer, Kickball, Netball and Tee Ball. All students participated with great attitudes and sportsmanship, with all reports indicating that it was a fun day for everyone involved. Our Kickball and AFL 9s girls teams won the premiership and our AFL 9s boys and Netball mixed teams finished Runners Up.
I hope everyone has a safe and restful winter break. Looking forward to seeing everyone again in Term 3.
