From the Principal

Dear Families,

I hope this message finds you all healthy and well.

It’s been a rich and vibrant fortnight here at St Liborius, filled with opportunities to grow, connect and reflect as a community.

Last week, we were thrilled to welcome the Classroom Mastery Team to support us in further developing our behaviour curriculum. This work focuses on establishing clear routines and expectations to create calm, predictable classroom environments where all students can thrive. We were fortunate to be joined by staff from St Mary’s Echuca and St Joseph’s Kerang, which provided a valuable opportunity to collaborate, share insights and strengthen our practice alongside colleagues from other CESL schools.

In addition, we warmly welcomed the co-founders of OCHRE to St Liborius. The team visited our Years 3–6 classrooms, observing our teachers in action and offering insightful feedback. A highlight was the opportunity for our Year 3 students to ask questions about the OCHRE approach. Through this, our Year 3/4 unit deepened their understanding of why OCHRE lessons are structured the way they are. It was a positive and affirming experience for both staff and students.

We also offer our warmest congratulations to the students who received their Sacrament of First Holy Communion over the weekend. It was truly heartwarming to witness so many members of our community supporting these young people as they celebrated this important step in their faith journey.

At a time when the world is experiencing significant global unrest, we hold all those affected in our prayers. Echoing Pope Leo XIV’s call for peace over the weekend, we are reminded of our shared responsibility to be people of compassion, justice and reconciliation.

As families, we also encourage care and discernment around how global events are discussed with children. While current news may be prominent in the media, it’s important to ensure that children are not exposed to information they may not yet be ready to process. Consider switching off the TV or news updates, and making sure conversations are developmentally appropriate and reassuring.

Thank you once again for your continued support and partnership.  Wishing everyone a safe, peaceful and joyful week ahead.

With many blessings,

Alannah Darmody
