Years 2 & 3

The year 2/3s have continued to enact the school values in all their work and play at school over the past two weeks. Testing and assessment has continued, and students have been really supportive and encouraging of each other during this process.
In English we have really been having a great time! We have finished reading our class text The tale of Despereaux, with students showing the ability to draw together different narrative threads to construct an overall understanding of the novel. Building on this, students have continued planning and drafting a narrative of their own.
In Maths students have explored again the importance of zero as a placeholder. They enjoyed making numbers that included a zero and getting rid of the zero to see if it made a difference to the value of the number. Students completed lots of whole body activities to explore fractions and turns of the clock, as well as graphing and analysing some real life data. So it has been a busy and varied couple of weeks in Maths.
In Wellbeing we have continued to talk about strengths. We considered how the daily actions we take are expressions of our strengths. The students led this activity towards a discussion of gratitude, and it was lovely to witness their gentleness and empathy as they shared things they were grateful for.
Congratulations to everyone in 2/3 for their hard work and dedication to learning this term. I wish you all a lovely end to the term and a terrific term holiday!
