Principal's News

Good morning Families,
Congratulations to the children who received their First Eucharist on Saturday evening. This is a significant milestone in their faith journey. Receiving the Eucharist for the first time is a beautiful expression of faith and a deeper connection with Jesus. It marks an important step in growing in love, community, and spiritual understanding. We commend each child for their preparation, reverence, and joyful participation in this sacrament.
Thanks to Sarah, JP, Rose, Vicky, Ava, Sophie and families who supported the children through their preparation. May this be the beginning of a lifelong relationship with Christ, nurtured through prayer, community, and the grace of the sacraments.

Pyjama Day
St Vincent de Paul was a Catholic priest devoted to serving the poor and marginalised, inspiring the St Vincent de Paul Society known as “Vinnies” in Australia to continue his mission of compassion and practical help for those in need. As we celebrate the Feast of the Sacred Heart, a time when we remember Jesus’ deep love for all people, our SRC inspires us to show love in action by supporting our Pyjama Day. Children are invited to wear their pyjamas to school and bring a gold coin donation to help Vinnies care for those who need help in our community. Please note that this is a pyjama day and not a casual clothes day. Students should wear/bring shoes for outside play.
Student Free Day
Please be reminded that tomorrow is a student free day. Staff will be undertaking professional learning with Michael McGirr from Caritas.
Images of God Prayer Books
The Year Five and Six students have written and published a Prayer book inspired by the Book ‘Images of God’ by Marie-Helene Delval and Barbara Nascimbeni. They will be selling this book in the last week of school for a gold coin donation. All proceeds will go to Caritas Australia's Project Compassion to support communities in need.
Whole School Timetable swap for this week: Year 4 and 5 Excursion to St Aloysius Musical
Our Year 4 and 5 students have been invited to attend the St Aloysius production of Grease this Wednesday. This is a fantastic opportunity to strengthen the connection between our two schools, to celebrate the talents of St Aloysius students and for our students to gain insights prior to our school production.
To ensure students don’t miss out on their specialist classes, we’ve made a small change to the schedule for all children for this week:
- Prep – Year 2 students will wear their Sport uniform on Wednesday.
- Years 3 – 6 students will wear their Sport uniform on Thursday.
Students who are attending Grease will wear their sport uniform on Wednesday as they will be walking to North Melbourne.
Thank you for your support in accommodating this adjustment.
Reminder- School Code of Conduct
I remind families that if an issue arises involving your child or an incident has occurred at school, on an excursion, camp or any other school event, you should NOT contact other families directly to discuss the matter. Concerns should be raised with your child’s class teacher or a member of the leadership team. This ensures that incidents are managed in a fair, respectful and constructive way, without the added emotion that can often come from direct parent-to-parent conversations.
Addressing these matters through the correct school channels allows us to handle the situation appropriately and support all children effectively. Thank you for your understanding and support in upholding our school’s values and our Code of Conduct.
Prep 2026
Our first round of Prep enrolments have now closed and we are busy sending off our enrolment acceptance letters this week. We will announce further tours depending on the space we have available in our two classes.
Reports
Reports will be issued to families this Friday. You may request a follow up interview with your child’s teacher by emailing them. Interviews will be arranged at a mutually convenient time and will be ten minutes.
Leaving HR?
Please advise the office if your Prep to Year 5 child will not be continuing at Holy Rosary next year. This helps us organise class structures and staffing so your advance notice is much appreciated.
Holiday Works
There will be paint works on the second level up the stairs towards the library and a repaint of seats inside the front gate. The OSHC area will be deep cleaned in readiness for our new service which will be in operation from Day 1, Term 3.
Last Day of Term
As we come to the end of another busy and rewarding term, I extend my heartfelt thanks to our wonderful students, dedicated staff, and supportive families.
Our last day of term will be Friday 4th July and as usual, this will be a casual clothes day. We will finish at 1:00pm.
Farewell TeamKids
Friday 4th will be TeamKids last day of operation at Holy Rosary. We say thank you and farewell to all the TeamKids staff who have cared for HR children over the past years and wish them success and happiness.
Happy Holidays
This is the last newsletter for this term. I wish all families a happy, relaxed and peaceful winter holiday. Stay warm and enjoy the quieter pace. I look forward to seeing you all on Monday 21 July, refreshed and ready for another fabulous term of learning.
