Term 2 Inquiry Topic - Dreamtime & Indigenous Culture

This term, students in years 1 & 2 having been exploring indigenous culture through the stories of the Dreamtime to understand the indigenous perspective and connection to the land and animals. As a part of this unit, students looked at indigenous art from rock art to dot painting, discovering the symbols and colours used in this art have meaning that are used to tell a story in images (from the Dreamtime to daily life). 

Students used symbols and colours of indigenous art to design and tell a story on indigenous related silhouettes with soft pastels. Students enjoyed creating, designing and creating an indigenous inspired artwork that told a story visually.
