All students attending St Louis de Montfort's Aspendale have the right to feel safe. The care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people is a fundamental responsibility of all within our school.

On Wednesday, our Year 6 students participated in their Confirmation Retreat Day organised by Rachel from Catholic Mission. The students participated in a variety of activities highlighting the importance of using our gifts to be of service to others and ensuring that all people are treated with love and kindness, and that their human diginity is respected.

A very special part of the day was the involvement of some of our St Louis' past students who are now student leaders at St Bedes. Dean, Ben and Cooper, along with Dylan their Youth Minister, shared their experiences of the Holy Spirit working in their lives.

The students role-played the story of The Good Samaritan to deepen their understanding that we are called to help those in need. They also worked in small groups focussing on issues of poverty in developing countries and the unfair distribution of wealth in the world where 20% of the world get to enjoy 80% of the world's resources.

Many students particularly enjoyed the Kahoot activity identifying the 7 gifts of the Spirit and how these gifts can be applied in their daily lives.

Overall the students really seemed to embrace the messages that being a Spirit-Filled person means we are the 'Head, Hands and Heart' of Jesus, helping those in need is what Jesus calls us to do, and that anyone can make a difference, no matter how small.

On Tuesday evening, many Year 6 and Year 5 families braved the wild weather conditions to attend a Spirit-Filled Family Night where Roseanne Rofaeel, the founder of COTS (Christmas on the Streets) shared her experiences of helping the homeless and ultimately creating an amazing foundation that is now a government registered charity helping people on the streets all over Australia and New Zealand. Her talk was very inspiring as she  brought many people to tears  speaking about her selfless experiences helping those who are 'homeless not hopeless'.  She is a true example of a Spirit-Filled Person, bringing the love of Jesus to all those she meets. As she re-iterated to our students, you dont need to do great things, whatever you use your gifts and talents for can make a great difference!

              Michael Harvey Visit- 20th July

We are blessed to have Michael Harvey visit our parish on Sunday 20 July (one of only 6 parishes in Australia!). Michael Harvey is a world class presenter with decades of experience in over 18 countries. In 2004 Michael Harvey gave up a high-flying job in London to teach church leaders a new vision of a parish culture where invitation is second nature not a second thought. Since then, he has helped thousands of people and churches all over the world with his simple yet powerful process of invitation. His approach is understandable, entertaining, engaging ,humorous and accessible.

Our Parish Pastoral Council recently attended 4-week online training sessions with Michael, and it was excellent. Michael’s message of invitation is of such relevance and an invitation for all;  we would like to invite as many people as possible to hear Michael.

The event is on Sunday 20 July, all are invited to our 9.30am Mass and Michael’s presentation will take place in the St Louis’ Primary School Hall from 11am (tea & coffee and registration from 10.45am)

There is no cost. We will provide lunch and therefore need people to register.
