Last Friday our year 6 students attended the Wangaratta Performing Arts & Convention Centre for the Makers Empire; Kids In Space Showcase. Our students joined other students from participating primary schools for this exciting event.
Each group presented an invention that utilised space technology, either with the purpose of supporting astronauts or solving a problem on earth.
We are pleased to announce Group 2 from our school won the top prize. Poppy, Eloise, Andy, Jeremy and Lachie designed a concept to address waste in the ocean, which they printed, utilising the Makers Empire 3D printer program.
They have recieved an invitation to attend the National Finals in Adelaide later this year. This unique opportunity is possible due to sponsorship by the The Andy Thomas Space Foundation.
Yesterday, all classes had the wonderful opportunity to attend an incursion hosted by the Fruit Fly Circus. Students walked to the Mount Beauty Community Centre, where they enjoyed an energetic and engaging performance, followed by a Q&A session. It was a privilege to be invited by the Fruit Fly Circus to witness a showcase of incredibly talented performers—some of whom are proud alumni of our school.
We predict teachers will have a lot of requests for hoops in the coming week!
On Monday, our Grade 3/4 class embarked on a walking tour to the Mount Beauty Information Centre and Museum. Following our visit, we strolled through our picturesque town, discovering the local businesses and services that shape the heart of Mount Beauty. As part of our inquiry unit, Our Dynamic Community, we’ve been delving into what makes communities thrive. This week, our focus is on the Snowy Hydro System and uncovering the rich history of our town.
