Principal's Report

By Carolyn Serpell

Congratulations to our Year 6 students on their achievement and outstanding presentations at last week's 'Kid's in Space' showcase!  We were absolutely delighted and very proud to hear the news that one of the teams was awarded Showcase Winner and will now go on to compete at the National Competition in Adelaide, later in the year.  Well done to Andy, Eloise, Poppy, Jeremy and Lachie on their win, and a big thank you to Hayley for her initiative and support of students in the program.

As part of their inquiry studies and exploration of Community, on Monday, students in Year 3/4 undertook a walking excursion of the town, commencing with a visit to the information centre, to explore how the community has changed over time.  Many thanks to Kathryn for providing this opportunity and to the staff at the Mount Beauty Information Centre.

Yesterday, students and staff were wowed with a magnificent performance by 10 of the Flying Fly Circus' best, two of which were former students of Mount Beauty Primary School! There were lots of oohs, ahhs and looks of amazement as the students tumbled, jumped, flipped, balanced, cart wheeled and climbed to touch the roof of the community centre, during an action-packed 35 minute show.  Our students are also commended on their outstanding audience skills and thoughtful questioning of the performers during the Q&A after the show.

Today, Years 5 & 6 enjoyed another day of blue skies and fresh snow, for their 2nd day of downhill skiing/snowboarding.  Many thanks to all our volunteers for their support with this program.  By all accounts, everyone had lots of fun!  Weather conditions permitting, students will be skiing again next Thursday for their third and final day of the downhill program.

Next term our year 3 and 4 students will join the year 5 and 6's for a 3 day cross country skiing program.  Please see your child's event page on Compass to consent/decline and process payment.

Dental forms for the Smile School Dental program have been sent home to families. Please complete and return these to school before the end of term.

Year 1/2 students will present at assembly tomorrow, together with Year 6, who will be giving a brief presentation of their 'Kids in Space' projects.

Families and friends are invited to join us on Monday 30th June, when Emily and students will present a concert of their learning over the semester.  The theme of the concert is Playing with Pitch, and will feature the xylophone, with some accompaniment provided by the choir and members of the Spookie Ukies.  We hope to see you there!

On Tuesday 1st of July, at 1 pm, we holding a 2026 Prep Information Session and School Tour, for families of students transitioning to Prep in 2026.  Please pass this information on to interested friends or family members.

To celebrate the end of term, next Friday 4th July, we will be having a 'Come Dressed in your PJs' day!  This is an optional event and there will be no gold coin donation.  A reminder that school will also finish at the earlier time of 2.30pm.
