Dear St John’s Community,

Last week we celebrated Remembrance Day. It surprises me that many people recognise and understand the importance of ANZAC Day, but not as much in relation to Remembrance Day.
At the eleventh hour of the eleventh day, of the eleventh month in 1918, the guns fell silent, bringing an end to the Great War. A war that saw the loss of 16 million lives over four years. Since then, each year we stop for a minute of silence, not to glorify war or conflict, but to remember courage, to mourn loss, and commit ourselves to a more peaceful world.
God of peace and compassion, we remember the fallen, those who laid down their lives in the service of their country. Hold in your care all who grieve, all who carry scars of body, mind and spirit, we hold up to you, all who still serve.
Grant us the grace to honour their sacrifice not only with words, but with lives that seek justice, mercy, and reconciliation.
Give us the wisdom and courage to pursue peace and the strength to bind up the broken hearted.
May our remembrance lead to hope, and our silence to resolve. We ask this prayer through Christ our Lord. Amen.

What do art and horses have in common? Well, some of our students found out recently when they entered the Southside Racing (Cranbourne and Pakenham Racing Venues) Canvas to Cup Art competition for schools. It was the first time the competition has been run in Victoria and while it was neck and neck for most of the track, we just missed out on the last corner. But they did an amazing job and the artwork will be on display this weekend for the Cranbourne Cup if you are planning on heading down there.
Congratulations to: Adeline C, Meredith C, Ebony M, Lucy H, Erin N, Meika M, Aiden R, Bridie R, Abigail R, Cole L, Raiden R and Paige K.
These students gave up their own time to finish the artwork in the short time frame they were given.
Many thanks also, to Mrs Munyun for helping the students get it done and Scott R for facilitating our involvement.

Please remember that if you arrive before 3pm for pickup, you need to call the office, and we will send your child out to you. We cannot have cars waiting for long periods and potentially blocking the drive-through before 3pm.
