English

This term, our Year 7 students have been diving into the exciting world of visual literacy as part of their English curriculum. They have been working creatively to design picture book covers for original stories they have written, combining their storytelling skills with artistic expression.
The project encourages students to think critically about how images, colour, and typography can convey the themes, mood, and characters of a story before a single word is read. Through brainstorming sessions, sketching drafts, and peer feedback, students developed a deeper understanding of how visual elements work alongside text to engage readers.
The result has been a vibrant collection of unique and imaginative book covers that showcase our students’ creativity and ability to communicate ideas visually. These covers not only bring their stories to life but also demonstrate important skills in media literacy and design.
We are proud of the innovative work produced by our Year 7 cohort and look forward to continuing to explore the power of visual storytelling in future projects.
