Careers

As part of my HSC, I am studying the T/VET Certificate II in Construction Pathways course while still attending school. Throughout the course, I have been learning practical skills and knowledge related to the building and construction industry. The program includes both classroom lessons and hands-on workshop activities. In class, I have learned about workplace health and safety, how to use tools safely, how to read basic plans and measurements, and key construction terminology.
The practical sessions have been my favourite part, giving me the opportunity to work with materials such as timber and practise using a range of hand and power tools. I have also developed important skills like teamwork, communication, and problem-solving, all of which are essential on real job sites. We mainly focused on carpentry, and as part of a group of three girls, we even built a mini house together.
Studying construction at TAFE has given me a strong head start in the industry while still completing my schooling, and it has helped me feel more confident about pursuing a future trade pathway.
