Principal's Report

Dear Families,
As the final weeks of the term unfold, a distinct and wonderful feeling is permeating the corridors of our school: the undeniable spirit of Christmas. It is hard to believe that I am writing this newsletter for the last time in 2025. Joining the St Leonard’s community feels like a lifetime ago, and it has been a true pleasure. This time of year is always special, marking not just the culmination of a busy academic year, but a moment to pause, reflect, and celebrate the values that truly matter.
More than just tinsel and twinkling lights, the true magic of the season lies in kindness, generosity, and community. We are encouraging all our students to embrace this spirit wholeheartedly, focusing on giving rather than receiving and extending a hand of friendship to those around them. Whether through acts of charity, sharing a smile, or working collaboratively, the Christmas spirit provides a beautiful opportunity to reinforce the importance of compassion and goodwill.
As the year closes, I would like to take this opportunity to offer my sincere gratitude.
To Our Wonderful Students
To the students of St Leonard’s: What an amazing group of young people you are. Your bright and bubbly faces light up our school and make it such a remarkable place to work. I am so proud to be the Principal of this school, and that is entirely because of you all. You have embraced this year with such tenacity and eagerness, seeing the opportunity to grow and succeed in every situation. You have responded positively to feedback and learned from your mistakes. I have loved watching you learn in the classrooms and play in the school grounds. I hope you take the lessons and growth of 2025 with you and bring your bright energy into the 2026 school year.
To our graduating class of 2025 - congratulations on a wonderful end to your primary school journey. You have led our school with pride and upheld the values of St Leonard’s. We wish you nothing but happiness and success as you embark on the next phase of your life. They have all left their final remarks in the pages that follow.
To Our Parents and Community
To our parents and wider community: Thank you for entrusting me to lead St Leonard's. I have felt so welcomed and immediately part of such a wonderful community. It has been a blessing to start to get to know you and your families as we move through this primary school journey together. I have truly appreciated your openness, your friendly smiles, and your words of wisdom along the way. I look forward to 2026 and the next chapter for St Leonard’s.
To Our Dedicated Staff
To the teaching and support staff at St Leonard’s… what can I say! Thank you for welcoming me as your leader this year. It is a true privilege to work with such a supportive, talented, and dedicated group of people who all consistently have the best interests of the students at heart. I have loved our professional conversations and the curiosity you bring to what is to come!
A special mention must go to Mrs. Angela Foale, who is a tremendous leader of St Leonard’s and someone who has walked beside me each and every day. Your leadership and friendship are so deeply appreciated. To Maria and Nalika, you keep our school ticking over. Thank you for your friendship and for helping me settle into St Leonard’s. To the leadership team at St Leonard’s thank you for your unwavering support.
I wish you all a very well-deserved and restful break. Enjoy the Christmas season with your family and have a safe start to the New Year.
Take care,
Alyce
