From the Principal

Dear families,

I write this email while dressed up in costume as part of the end of formal schooling week for our four Year 12 students. This Thursday we saw Callum, Damon, Matilda and Nevaeh begin their journeys into adulthood. We wish them well in their coming adventures and cannot wait to hear about all the amazing things they achieve. For three of the students, they will be back next term for exams and I know they will do their best.

A very big thank you on behalf of the students for the great turn out for their assembly. This year we followed up with a morning tea in the library which allowed for all staff to be a part of this important event as well as younger siblings.

Please stay safe over the break and take the time to recharge ready for the last 10 weeks of school.

Term 4

Attendance

Next term, we will be organising meetings for families who have children who are regular non-attenders or have a pattern of absence. Please do not be offended when you receive your letters stating concerns and asking for a meeting. We know that students who do not attend regularly have greater struggles both with learning and social skills. They find it harder to be engaged in school and harder to maintain friendships.

Our attendance, as a school, is not great and we need to turn it around. When we ask for a meeting, please come knowing that we are wanting to work with you and your child, but we cannot help if they are not here.

Bike and Scooter Safety

Wearing a helmet is the law. Please help your child stay safe by ensuring that they have a helmet when they ride or scooter to school. We will be asking for parents to collect bikes and scooters if students continue to break the law when riding to and from school.

Sun Safety

Just a friendly reminder that hats are part of the uniform and every student was issued with a free hat at the start of the year. It is time to hunt for those hats and make sure they are in bags and ready for school in Term 4.

The Fathering Project

We are exciting to announce that we are partnering with The Fathering Project for the next three years. This is what it is about. In the new term, we will be sending out more information to fathers, grandfathers and father figures in our commuunity and inviting them in.

At the Fathering Project we recognise that fathers, and father figures, play a vital role in children’s lives. The evidence demonstrating fathers’ potential to positively influence their children’s health and mental health, social success and academic achievements is now robust, indisputable, and compelling.
