St Joseph's School is so proud of our State Swimming Champ, Alfred Hindle!
Alfred Hindle, a seasoned state finalist swimmer, took to the blocks again, ready to take on the state's best at MSAC last Thursday! Luckily, he has continued to climb in his swimming ability with his commitment to his Flyers training year-long and last week shaved 10 seconds off his time in the Butterfly from his personal best time. Alfred AGAIN won GOLD in both his freestyle and butterfly (Multi-Class) events. The 5/6 and 3/4s watched the livestream of the races with great pride for their school mate and delighted in his recount when he returned to school the next day. We can't wait to see where your swimming future takes you!
NEXT WEEK - Whole school Cross Country House Colours Day - Tuesday 13th May - 12.30pm - 3.15pm
- PARTICIPATION is COMPULSORY for all Prep to Year 6 Students
- However, COMPETING for a place in the District Cross Country Team is OPTIONAL .

St Joeys School Running Club - CONTINUES each Tuesday morning before-school during Term 2
In preparation for this term's Cross Country, we continue our Tuesday Running Club sessions for Years 3-6 students from 8.10-8.40am this week. We had 29 students turn up for our first session. We meet at Sorrento Footy Oval each Tuesday morning from 8.10-8.40am for some running drills and distance training. (NB. No training next Tuesday 13th May due to School Cross Country being on that day.) Please make sure you have completed the Operoo for this if your child is taking part in Running Club and have any asthma or anaphylactic medication with them at the oval. Please ensured that you have SIGNED your child IN before leaving the oval. Mrs O'Shannassy will drive the students back afterwards in ''Bluey'' for those who have selected this option on the Operoo. We still require the help of some parents to prepare the breakfast for our runners back at school. Thanks to Prue Birch for jumping in to help last week before school!
Best First Year Sailor 2025 - Congratulations to Isabella!
At the end of last year on St Joseph's Beach and Boat Days, 12 of our students were given the initial opportunity of receiving a scholarship opportunity to take up free sailing courses that commenced over the summer holidays, followed by Term One Sailing Scholarship opportunities. Isabella Willcock was one of these students and she has shown great determination and commitment to continuing these Sunday sessions, amidst a very schedule of swimming and basketball. On Saturday night, Isabella was awarded the Best First Year Sailor 2025 from Sorrento Sailing and Couta Boat Club. Well done, Isabella!
Warm Regards,
