📚 Premiers' Reading Challenge 📚
The Challenge encourages children and students to read a set number of books over the year and record their efforts online. Since the Challenge first began in 2005, more than 3.5 million students have read over 54 million books.
The 2025 Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge is now open. Reading develops academic, social and emotional skills to prepare our children for the future. The Premiers’ Reading Challenge is a fun way to foster a lifelong love of learning in your students while they develop their literacy skills.
Why take part?
The Reading Challenge promotes a love of literature, builds reading stamina, and supports literacy skills across all year levels. It’s a fun, engaging way for students to explore new authors, genres, and topics—building lifelong habits and a deeper connection with books.
How it works:
-Students are encouraged to read a minimum number of books (with some from the official booklist).
-They log their reading online, supported by teachers and families.
-The Challenge runs until 25th September 2025
Get involved!
If you are interested in the challenge, you can register your child here. You can register your child as a Home Based Reader.
For students from Prep to Year 2, the challenge is to read or experience 30 books. For students above year 3, the challenge is to read 15 books. Students who complete the challenge will receive a Certificate of Achievement signed by the Premier as well as former Victorian Premiers.
Let’s work together to inspire a love of reading in every child.
Happy reading! 📖✨
Kind regards
