Stefania Mantinioti  - Secondary Sub School

Dear parents and carers,

Welcome to Term 2!

We are excited to announce that Sean Procko has been appointed as the Senior Secondary Sub-school Leader. Many of you may already know Sean as the VPC teacher in Room 24, having joined our team earlier this year. This term, Sean has stepped into the Leading Teacher role and will be coordinating the VPC program as well as supporting classes Room 23 to Room 27. I will continue coordinating the Future Ready program and overseeing classes Room 19 to Room 22. Sean and I are looking forward to working closely together across the sub-school, alongside Karen Glare, our experienced Community Engagement and Careers Practitioner. Together, we will also coordinate a variety of programs including the HOL Café, HOL Build, VET Hospitality, and the onsite SBAT onsite Baking Program.

This week, students have been enthusiastically participating in our Swimming Program. It has been wonderful to see their engagement and skill development. Students have been working on important water safety skills, building swimming techniques such as freestyle and backstroke, and participating in fun aquatic activities that boost both their confidence and physical fitness.

Student Support Group (SSG) meetings will be held during Weeks 4, 5, and 6 (from 12 May to 29 May). You will soon receive a letter from your child’s classroom teacher with further details. We highly encourage all families to attend these meetings, as they are a valuable opportunity to discuss your child’s individual goals, celebrate their progress, and plan for future supports to ensure their ongoing success.

We are looking forward to a productive and exciting Term 2, full of new learning opportunities and achievements for our students. Thank you for your ongoing support — we value our partnership with you in your child’s educational journey.

ROOM 24

VPC students have been hard at work at their School Based Apprenticeship Training at Northpoint warehouse where they are studying a Cert II or III in Warehouse operations. They have been collating and distributing food packages for the community and learning about safe warehouse practices.

Room 24 also went to Broadmeadows Library to explore different literary genres. They researched topics of interest and some joined the library. Thank you to Gurminder for organising.

We also had the Victoria Electoral Commission provide an informative incursion. We learnt about voting, practiced voting, and what to expect on election day.
