Student achievements

At Pilgrim School, we celebrate student success across a wide spectrum - academic achievement, personal growth, leadership, community contribution and creative expression.

In 2024, students demonstrated excellence in a variety of domains:

  • Academic Enrichment:
    • Strong participation in national and state initiatives such as the NAPLAN (see below), Premier’s Reading Challenge, Premier’s Be Active Challenge, Oliphant Science Awards, and the Bebras Computational Thinking Challenge.
    • Hands-on learning through Serve Projects, encouraging global awareness and practical action, such as water filtration design for Ugandan villages and environmental initiatives like planting and gardening.
  • Leadership and Service:
    • Year 6 students completed the Leaders Passport program, engaging in planning and running events such as the Connection Café High Tea for parents.
    • Student voice was active and visible through our Student Representative Council, Sports Captains, and Performing Arts Captains, with induction training provided early in the year.
    • Foundation students were supported through meaningful mentoring by Year 6 buddies, including Bible presentations and shared activities.
  • Creative Arts and Performance:
    • The whole-school musical The Peace Child was an outstanding success, showcasing talents from Foundation to Year 6 across four performances.
    • The Pilgrim Choir performed at multiple community locations including Estia Aged Care, Resthaven, Seeds Church, and the Aberfoyle Park Hub, as well as receiving an honourable mention at the Adelaide Choral Eisteddfod.
    • Students contributed to the Campus “Pilgrim Has Talent” evening, reflecting growing confidence and creativity.
  • Sporting Representation:
    • Students represented Pilgrim in SACSA Netball, Soccer, Basketball and Athletics carnivals.
    • Participation in Sapsasa Swimming, Athletics and Cross Country.
    • Enthusiastic involvement in Pedal Prix events in Mt Gambier, Victoria Park, Tailem Bend (8-hour), and the 24-hour race.
    • Year 5/6 Aquatics and Foundation swimming programs complemented skill development.
  • Recognition of Excellence:
    • Brett Middleton (staff) represented Australia at the Asia Pacific Beach Ultimate Championship in Japan, winning gold in the Master Mixed Division, setting a strong example of commitment and achievement for students.

Pilgrim students consistently model compassion, humility and effort in their pursuits - embodying the school’s values both in and out of the classroom.

NAPLAN 2024

Students in Years 3 and 5 were required to complete the ‘National Assessment Program - Literacy and Numeracy’ (NAPLAN) Testing. In 2024, the governemtn required this testing to take place earlier in the school year for all schools. Pilgrim results again indicated that in all ten categories our Year 3 and 5 students were well above both the Australian and South Australian averages.

2024 NAPLAN results can be viewed on the MySchool website www.myschool.edu.au.
