Our Preps have had a very busy few weeks with their learning. They have now settled well into Term 2 and are enjoying learning and interacting with their peers.

Our learning - Weeks 4 & 5

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL):

-To identify people who they can go to for help and who they can share their good times with.

-To practise help-seeking conversations.

English:

-Our phonics lessons will be focusing on the sounds the letters ‘v’, 'y' and 'r' make and discover words and objects that begin with those sounds, as well as practising writing those letters.

-Learn about alliteration and practise saying short phrases with words that begin with the same first sound.

-Continue to read and discuss fairytales and sequence the events within those stories, as well as looking at character traits.

-Practise forming the 'handle shape' and 'fishing hook shape' for handwriting and practise writing Heart words.

Maths:

-Continue to build our knowledge of concepts such as subitising, counting, number bonds, tally marks in our Maths Daily Review.

-Continue with learning about the addition concept and work out all the combinations or ways to make certain totals. For example, 5, 7 and so forth.

Inquiry:

-To understand how televisions have changed over time.

-How the TV show Play School has changed.

-Explore how watching movies at home changed. For example, video, DVD and streaming.

Friendly Reminders:

-Students are required to bring their blue Reader bag to school daily to enable teachers to place new sounds being learnt in their phonics books, as well as checking in on students' knowledge of letter sounds, Heart words.

-Students names on clothing - please ensure that your child's belongings are named. A lot of items are being misplaced, especially school jumpers/jackets. If items are named/labelled, they will most likely get back to their owner.

-Tuesday 20th May - Curriculum Day - students are not required at school.
