Our Learning Weeks 4&5

During this fortnight in the 3-and 4-year-old kindergarten, the children have been undertaking learning in the following areas:

Pre-Reading:

Using EL&L cards to explore capital letters, finding letters from their name and changing ending of stories while looking at books.

Predicting theme of stories based on the front cover of the book.

Pre-Writing: Visual tracking games.

Writing names or mark making to identify their artwork

Developing strength in our arms and hands through ball games

STEM : Developing an understanding of the concept of size as they sort items into the categories small, medium and large.

Sorting and classifying items according to shared characteristics.

Inquiry : Our World, our future- developing an understanding of the impact our actions have on the environment now and in the future; understanding the concepts of reduce/reuse/recycle; imbed sustainable practices into their daily routine; become socially responsible and develop a respect for the environment.

Social & emotional learning : Focusing on how our body feels when we have different emotions.

Continuing to explore the Zones of Regulation to identify how we are feeling, what made them feel that way and implementing strategies we can use to return to the 'green zone.'
