What a fantastic and busy week we’ve had in Year 5! Here’s a snapshot of all the wonderful learning and activities happening in our classrooms:

🔢 Times Tables Champions!

Our students have been working incredibly hard on mastering their times tables. We are so proud of their dedication and persistence. Once students can confidently complete all 12 times tables under timed conditions, they are awarded a special certificate during our Year 5 sport assembly. We encourage all students to keep practicing at home—every bit of effort brings them closer to their award!

💐 Celebrating Mothers and Special People

Last week, we celebrated the amazing mothers and special people in our lives. It was heartwarming to see so many of you at our Mother’s and Special People’s Breakfast. Thank you for joining us—it was a lovely morning filled with smiles, laughter, and appreciation.

⛑️ First Aid Incursion

We had an exciting and informative First Aid incursion this week! Students learned essential safety skills and how to respond in emergency situations. It was a hands-on and engaging experience that everyone thoroughly enjoyed.

✍️ English – Informative Explorers

In English, we’ve been diving into the world of informative texts. Students have been reading, analysing, and creating their own texts on fascinating topics such as Asian animals, planets, and sports. It’s been a great way to build both writing skills and general knowledge!

➕ Mathematics – Addition Strategies

In Maths, we’ve been developing our addition strategies. Students have been learning and applying the split strategy, jump strategy, and vertical addition. These tools are helping them become more confident and flexible mathematicians.

Thank you for your continued support. We’re so proud of the effort and enthusiasm our Year 5 students bring to their learning every day!

Warm regards,

The Year 5 Teaching Team
