SECONDARY (7-12)

Justice Matters Camp
The annual Caritas CES Ltd Justice Matters Camp was held in Beechworth this week. Each year secondary schools in our Diocese send student leaders and future student leaders from Years 9, 10 and 11 to learn how to lead Social Justice in their community.
This year Lila-Kate Niederie from Year 11 together with Maddison Gurnick, Abigail Romer and Charli Cocomazzo from Year 9 represented St Anne's College. The students represented St Anne's College with pride and have come back from the Camp with some excellent plans for leading in Social Justice and Ecological Stewardship at St Anne's College.

Yr 10 Melbourne City Camp
Our Year 10 students were happy little campers busily living it up in the city when they took off for camp on Monday.
On day one, students attended The Big Issue Classroom to learn more about homelessness and the work The Big Issue is doing to combat homelessness in Australia. Students then engaged in an activity they chose, from an escape room, rock climbing or a visit to the aquarium. They finished their first evening by watching the new Mission Impossible film. The second day started with visits to Universities and TAFEs, using their new public transport and navigation skills to complete a scavenger hunt and ended with enjoying pizza and pasta on Lygon St.
The students also got the opportunity to hit the ice rink where their ice-skating skills were put to the test!
The Year 10 camp is not only a chance for students to make connections between school and tertiary providers, it’s also a fantastic opportunity for students to become familiarised with Melbourne. Students got a taste of what the city has to offer, while also utilising skills such as problem solving and independence.
Year 12 P.E
The Year 12 Physical Education Class performed two Fitness Tests for their upcoming SAC this week to collect data. They did the Phosphate Recovery Test and also the 20m Shuttle Run Test to collect data on heart rates and explore the interplay of energy systems during these tests. They have also been studying acute responses to exercise and fatigue and recovery mechanisms as a part of this unit of study.
VET Sport & Rec Students Making Waves (and Gains)!
Over the past three weeks, our VET Sport and Recreation students have been hitting Aquamoves and learning the ins and outs of fitness, strength, and endurance training. From lifting weights to mastering cardio equipment, they’ve been flexing their muscles—literally and figuratively!
Our learning mentor was blown away by the students' energy, enthusiasm, and ability to push themselves in the gym. Let’s just say, there were more gains than complaints!
And the best part? These legends are well on their way to walking out with a Certificate III in Sport, Aquatics and Recreation—a nationally recognised qualification that opens doors to careers in the ever-growing sport and fitness industry. Plus, students can do it as part of their VCE scored program or VCE VM.
Interested in learning how to train like a pro or work in the industry? Have a chat with Kasey or Belinda—you could be the next gym junkie with a career to match!
