Round Square Week

In Week 4 of Term 2 we will have our annual Round Square Week.

This is run by the Round Sqaure Committee and Junior Leaders and offers the school community an opportunity to learn more about Round Square and also get involved in some fun events.

Activities fit under the RS spirits, or pillars; Internationalism, Democracy, Environmentalism,  Adventure and Service. Activities this year, include an adventure race, an impromptu speaking competition, Upper Todd Landcare volunteering, fundraising and Tutor group activities. There will also be the Year 7 and 8 Dance-a-thon. Year 7s and 8s are asked to bring a gold coin donation for Round Square Service Projects and for two lessons they get to dance and have fun. At the conclusion of the event, we take an aerial photo of all Year 7s and 8s making the Round Square logo on the oval. The dance-a-thon is a highlight for many, as the Senior leaders do a wonderful job putting the event together.

The week is an important part of our school's social calendar as it focuses on the Round Square pillars, reminding the school that Round Sqaure is an organisation but it's also who we are. The week involves students from across the school and showcases our wonderful student leadership in action. We look forward to sharing come highlights!

Round Square Opens Up the World!

At the end of last term, a group of St Philip's students participated in a Round Square Online Postcard with the theme of  “Accelerate Action: Celebrating International Women's Day". A group of six, Year 10 and 11 girls joined the forum of 70 students from 10 schools across the world to discuss a range of topics associated with International Women’s Day. These discussions were led by the student leaders from MLC in Sydney who hosted the event.

Our girls did a wonderful job contributing to the discussion, reflecting on the ideas raised, and unpacking what modern feminism is all about. All were keen to eplore how International Women’s Day could be recognised at St Philip's in 2026.

"I thought the postcard for International Women's Day was valuable because it was a great opportunity to hear about how people around the world are tackling the issue of sexism. Through Zoom, I was able to speak to other students about an issue that I am passionate about and gained new ideas for our school, like calling out casual sexism or holding an International Women's Day assembly."

Well done to Charlotte McArthur, Matilda Bhattarai, Frances Budrikis, Sophia Goodman, Reese Crandal and Betty Innes our Gordonstoun Exchange student, for representing our community so well and we look forward to seeing what happens in this space.
