Dear Parents and Friends,
I’m very grateful for the safe return of our students and staff from Japan and Perth.
The 14 Japanese language students enjoyed the height of the cherry blossom season, home stays, school and historical visits. Thanks to Yuki Matsueda, Salaam Al Marashli and Vicki Hutchinson for the hours of fundraising support and planning they provided to make this trip happen.
The Junior Round Square trip to Perth was supported by Roxanne Egan and enjoyed by 6 students. We'll be hearing more about the variety of activities both staff and students participated in, in the next newsletter in Week 5.
The start of the term with Cross Country and the Interhouse Quiz gave everyone the chance to reconnect and participate in a positive community event. Congratulations to Partridge House for being champion runners in the Cross Country and Flynn House for winning the quiz.
Our Anzac Day Service at school on Thursday morning was another special event. Organised by our Chaplain, Sarah Pollitt, and supported by our bugler, Peter Gillham, along with our special guest, Chris Tudor who read the ode.
The level of respect shown by our students during the ceremony was truly commendable, reflecting their maturity and appreciation for the occasion.
The Alice Springs Anzac Day March on the 25th April was well attended with over 70 students and 20 staff and parents. It was a wonderful turn out of all schools and demonstrated the wonderful community spirit that exists in Alice Springs.
This week our camp season kicks off with our Year 8s. The weather is glorious, the skies clear and maybe the flies are too friendly, however, nothing to deter a true Territorian from our beautiful bush.
The Parents' & Friends' Association met on Wednesday and I’m thankful for the parental support, ideas and questions that come out at each meeting. Everyone is welcome so if you missed this one, please consider attending the next meeting on the second Wednesday of Term 3.
As always, it is a busy term with lots happening. Be sure to pay attention to the term calendar so you don’t miss out on the many opportunities to expand your young person’s horizon.
Kind regards,
Leslie Tilbrook
