Year Five - Spotlight on Learning

Bethany Community

Dear Bethany Families,

This week, our students enjoyed the Creative Sports activity at St Peter’s. They enjoyed the creative games the Year 9 students had prepared and demonstrated respect whilst listening to the students instructions.

We were blessed to see so many people join us for our Mother's Day Breakfast. We hope you all enjoyed our Auslan song that the students have been learning.

A reminder about the upcoming excursion on Tuesday 13th May to the Melbourne City. Students need to be at the school no later than 7:40am for an 8:00am time to depart. Students will be returning to the school for pick up at 7:45pm. They need to wear their sports uniform and bring a packed snack and lunch as usual. Please ensure students have a rain jacket in case of wet weather.

Next Week we are learning about...

Religious Education Focus:

Students will be learning to recognise how Catholic education helps us grow as people of faith, and how we can be small sparks of hope, light, and kindness in our school and community. Students will identify ways they can shine their light through words, choices, and actions.

English Focus

We will continue reading our second novel study for the term, Dirrarn, the sequel to Black Cockatoo by Carl Merrison and Hakea Hustler. Students will revise how to add appositives to sentences and use conjunctions to enhance their writing.

Mathematics Focus

In Week 4, students will continue developing their understanding of decimals. They will compare and order numbers with up to three decimal places on a number line and demonstrate their understanding through rich task activities.

Auslan Focus

Students will be completing a mid cycle assessment, demonstrating their understanding of head shaking and open and closed questions using eyebrow movements.

Social/ Emotional Learning Focus

Next week, students will look at problem solving and how they can deal with situations if they arise. Students will participate in role-plays and demonstrate different ways to solve a social problem.
