Foundation and Year 34: 3pm – 3.30
In your child’s classroom
During this session, classroom teachers will share important, cohort-specific information about our school's updated homework program. This is a great opportunity to learn more about how we support student learning beyond the classroom and how you can play a part in that journey.
At Newlands, we are committed to helping every student succeed. Our homework program is an extension of the high-quality teaching and intervention strategies we implement throughout the school day. It provides students with a valuable opportunity to consolidate and apply the skills they are learning in class.
We encourage families to support the homework program by helping build homework into your child’s weekly routine, encouraging your child to complete tasks to the best of their ability and providing feedback or support when possible.
We recognise that every family’s circumstances are different. While we strongly encourage participation, we understand that the level of involvement will vary from family to family. Please know that any effort your child puts into completing their homework will be acknowledged and celebrated by their teacher.
To further strengthen the consistency and purpose of our homework program, we have recently refined our Homework Policy. If you would like to gain a deeper understanding of the rationale of our homework program, you can view the updated policy here.
If you are unable to attend this session, we will be making the slides available in the weekly newsletter.
