Athletics Carnival Success!
¡Un día lleno de salud y felicidad!
What an incredible day we had at our Whole School Athletics Carnival today! The sun was shining, the energy was high and our students gave it their all in a day full of running, jumping, throwing and playing.
From the moment we arrived at Harold Stevens Athletics Track, the buzz was contagious. Students proudly wore their house colours, cheering on their teammates and celebrating each other’s efforts with true sportsmanship. It was a joy to see so many smiling faces giving their best – whether they were sprinting down the track, launching a discus, flying through the air in long jump, playing different games or cheering loudly from the sidelines.
Events like these remind us of the many benefits of physical activity for children – improved fitness, stronger mental health, teamwork, resilience, and of course, the simple joy of being active. It was fantastic to see all students, from Prep to Grade 6, moving, playing and enjoying the great outdoors.
A special congratulations to all students who qualified for District Athletics – what an achievement! You will be notified early next week with further details.
And of course, a huge congratulations to House Darebin Celeste – the winners of this year’s Athletics Carnival! Your energy, effort and teamwork across the day were outstanding.
In the afternoon, the vibe shifted to pure fun with team games and relays. Our younger students loved the Over and Under Relays, Parachute and Mushroom Tiggy, while the older students enjoyed Capture the Flag, The Blind Maze and Egg and Spoon races among many others. The weather couldn’t have been better, and the laughter and excitement echoed across the whole track.
A huge thank you to our entire community – students, teachers, parent helpers and all families who came along to support and cheer. Events like these simply wouldn’t be possible without your help, enthusiasm and energy. We’re so grateful for your involvement.
And of course, we can’t forget one of the highlights of the day – the Teacher–Parent Relay Race! The crowd roared with laughter and encouragement as adults took to the track in a (mostly) friendly competition that was as entertaining as it was inspiring. What a brilliant way to finish the day!
Thank you again to everyone involved. We are so proud of our students and the positive, active culture we are building together.
¡Vamos Newlands!
Yours faithfully,
Raúl - Health and PE Teacher
