Planning Your Journey
Head of Year 10 lschuring@cns.catholic.edu.au
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all Year 10 students for their excellent attendance and participation during the retreat. The positive engagement and mature approach demonstrated by students throughout the activities made the experience truly meaningful for everyone involved. Special thanks to all staff members who contributed to the retreat's success, with particular recognition for Ms O'Grady and Ms Helena, whose thorough preparation and dedication were instrumental in delivering such a successful and meaningful retreat experience for our Year 10 cohort.
When not attending retreat, students were involved in an alternative program. This program has been designed to align with the SET planning process, which students will complete in Weeks 3 and 4. For more information, refer to the bulletin sent out early this week by Mrs. Ross, which provides further details on available booking dates. SET plans are a mandatory process that all students will be required to complete.
The alternative program your child completed is part of our Careers Short Course. This program is worth 1 QCE point if students successfully complete all assessments.
In Terms 1 and 2, students completed their first assessment piece, which included a reflection on their work experience. This term, the assessment is based on their alternate program and the SET Plan process. It is therefore essential that students complete all elements.
If your child did not attend the alternate program, they will still be required to complete the assessment in order to successfully attain their QCE points.
Students, in consultation with their parents, will need to make a SETP meeting appointment through the SSO SETPlan program. Appointments will be available from 5:00 pm this Friday.

Family Connect is the parent and carer body that partners with the College to support family engagement in students’ education. We regularly consider funding requests from the College for events, equipment, or travel assistance to help reduce costs for students representing the College. This support is funded through levies included in the College fee structure and allocated by Family Connect.
We are also seeking ideas from parents, guardians, and carers about additional ways we might support you in engaging with your child and the school—whether socially, in terms of well-being, or educationally—and your preferences for how this support might be delivered.
Please share your feedback using the link below. To assist with planning for 2026, we kindly ask for responses by Sunday, 10 August.
