Restorative Practices

Dear Families,

At one of our weekly meetings with staff this week, we spent time reviewing and refreshing our commitment to a restorative approach to resolving conflict and disagreements at Sacred Heart.

Restorative practices focus on building and maintaining positive relationships between students, teachers, and staff. People are encouraged to take responsibility for their actions and choices, coming to an understanding of the impact of their behaviour on others.

Restorative practices aim to create a safe and inclusive school environment where everyone feels a sense of belonging.

When unpacking a concern or disagreement and when the time is right - key questions are asked, reflected upon and discussed.

The 5 principles of Restorative Practice are:

Relationships - Developing connections.

Respect - valuing the opinion of others.

Responsibility - being accountable for actions towards self, others and environment.

Repair - Repairing harm and remaining included.

Reintegration - Consistent invitation to be in community.

COATS & JACKETS NEEDED

One of our wonderful Sacred Heart parents suggested the school look at running a coat drive to donate to the charity Off Your Back

I took this suggestion to our Student Representative Team today and they were very excited at the prospect of helping those in need by collecting any unwanted coats or jackets for the homeless or those in need.

If you have time on the weekend-please have a bit of a clean out of any unwanted coats and jackets that you could donate ad bring to school and then we will do the rest!!

At the moment Off Your Back are really looking for children's coats and jackets - it would be great to donate to this great cause.

Enjoy the weekend & take care,

Kate
