100 Days of Fun in Foundation
Now that was fun! Counting to 100, eating 100's and 1000's, bouncing balls a hundred times, getting dressed up to like like 100! Judging by the photos below, these kids have done a lot in a hundred days! Time for a sleep, I think!
Year 1
Last Thursday, the Grade 1 and Foundation students went off to Science Works for our first excursion together. We had a great time looking around Science Works and seeing all the great exhibits. We also went into the Lightning theatre and watched a show "What'' the weather?" We saw some man made lighting and lots about how weather is made in our sky.
Year 2/3
Hi Familes,
We have had a SCIENCE-TASTIC Week with our excursion to Scienceworks. All the children were engaged, excited and enjoyed the learning from the excursion. This is what they had to say about the day -
Abigail: On Tuesday when we went to Scienceworks, we got to see a lot of cool things. We learnt about what Mars is like.
Mariana: When we were at the Planetarium we watched a movie called ‘Tycho Goes to Mars’. We learnt that Mars is freezing.
Valentino: When we went to the Planetarium it was crazy! There were also free games we got to play.
Lance: At the Planetarium when we watched the movie there was a scary part when the robot was covered in dust.
Have a great weekend families.
Year 3/4
Scienceworks
Today (5th August) the Year 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 students went to Science works and it was so fun. My favorite part is when we went to visit Mars in the planetarium, it was so realistic. I saw stars, the moon, sun, milky way and earth. The man who was showing us things with his purple lazer, showed us the stars and some of them were shaped like a teapot, and a giant emu. It was so cool but at first I got dizzy because it was my first time being there.

On the 5th of August 2025, we took the bus to Scienceworks. Then we ate recess and we went to find some interesting science stuff about the human body. Next we went to the planetarium, the first show was Tyco the dog going to Mars by accident, the 4th planet of the solar system. The next show was about Mars, and the moon at night time. Then we explored Scienceworks more. My favorite thing was designing a future vehicle, it was very fun and I made 2 future cars. The first one was made out of steel, the next one was made out of carbon dioxide. My second favourite thing was the Energy lab and in the Energy lab we were learning about Mars the 4th planet in the solar system. Fun fact - did you know that Mars might look very hot but it is actually very cold. Then we ate lunch for about half an hour and went to the playground. Finally we went on the bus and arrived back at school. By Lawrence
On Tuesday I went to Scienceworks, it was really fun. We went to the science lab and we watched a video of people in a rocket. We did some experiments and some people really had fun. The best part was when we saw the rocket explode. By Aisha
Scienceworks - My favorite part at Scienceworks was racing Cathy Freemen and l nearly beat her. Here are the results 2:20, 2:41 seconds and it was EXCITING!!!! On the way l slept on the the bus. By Vlami
On the 5th of August, our school went to Scienceworks. The bus ride was pretty chill and we had a great view of the city. When we arrived, we started to explore the things there.
For our first activity we went to the Energy Lab which was really cool and we did this thing about how rockets worked, like how they take off and land etc.
Next we had 20 minutes to explore all the cool stuff there. I tried the Cathy Freeman race and beat her by 0.8 seconds!!! Then I tried the wheel chair race and I got a time of 53 seconds.
Next up we went to the Planetarium and we watched a show called Tycho goes to Mars, then we learnt about the night sky and all about it.
And yet again we went back to exploring for about 30 minutes, I tried the high jump and got 663 mm (63.3 cm).
After that I tried all the other things there and it was awesome!
But everything had to come to an end so we had our lunches and we went back to school to spend the last hour of our day. By Viraj
What I liked about Scienceworks.
1. I liked that they discovered how a rocket works.
2. I liked that there were many activities we could participate in.
3. I really liked the planetarium because everything looks very real.
4. I liked that a man explained everything to us about Mars and the constellations
More about Scienceworks
There were students from grade 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 from our school and other schools who went to the Scienceworks. When we arrived we sat down to eat, then we went to a "class" on how a rocket works. After that we went through a section where there were many things in which we could participate.
Then we went to the planetarium, we learned about Mars and the constellations, then we continued seeing more things. Then we sat down to eat and we played in the park. Later when we arrived at school, we made a report about what we liked and the things we did. By Martin
SCIENCEWORKS
I enjoyed Scienceworks, I liked the Cathy Freeman race because you and someone you pick gets to race Cathy Freeman. When I did it with my sister Taz I won, it was fun. I liked the magic doors because we had to go in the doors then we got out on the other side, when the door re opened the people thought we had disappeared. I also liked the planetarium because it gave us lots of info about Mars. We watched something that is called Tycho goes to Mars, that was the best thing I did. By Jazlyn
On Tuesday the 5th of August term 3 2025, we went to Scienceworks. It's a place where you can learn about the history of things like an apple and medicine, you can learn about physics.
We went to the Energy lab. It was about shooting a rocket up in space and how to go to Mars. We also went to the planetarium. We saw Tycho going into space, which is a dog going into space.
Lots of us got to race Cathy Freeman. I got 1.96 seconds because I accidentally went a bit too early.
I appreciate that my teacher Denise took us to Scienceworks, and I got to sleep on the bus. By Olivia
The Senior Students
Science Works
On Tuesday the 5th of August, students from grades 2-6 visited Science Works as a part of our Inquiry Unit about Earth and Space Sciences.
For the students in grades 5/6, they had the chance to visit the Planetarium and discover more about the Indigenous stories of the stars in our galaxy and their creation.
Students then visited the Energy Lab, where they were able to have interactive learning opportunities to learn more about the relationship between the Sun, Earth and Moon.
To finish off the fun packed day, we visited the 'Think Ahead' and 'SportsWorks' rooms, which allowed students to collaboratively play and learn about the past present and future technologies, as well as find out more about a variety of different sports, and the skills needed to play them.
The students had an awesome day, and I would like to thank all those parents helpers who were able to come along and assist on the day.
