Industry Spotlight – Landscape Architecture
A growing industry – projected job growth of 16.8% in the next five years.
Landscape architecture is about designing and shaping outdoor spaces to enhance both natural and built environments. It is a creative and technical field focused on planning, designing, and managing landscapes in urban, suburban, and rural settings. Landscape architects work on projects that range from parks, streetscapes, and public spaces to residential gardens, commercial developments, and large-scale environmental restoration. Their work integrates sustainability, aesthetics, and functionality to create spaces that are both beautiful and ecologically responsible.
Professionals in this field collaborate with architects, engineers, urban planners, and environmental scientists to develop solutions that improve quality of life while preserving and enhancing the natural environment. Landscape architects may also be involved in policy development, community consultation, and environmental impact assessments.
If you love science and/or design, enjoy solving problems, and are inquisitive about the world, then this may be the career for you.
