Parent SOL Meeting

Parent SOL is the College’s parents’ social justice group who work in partnership with the College to support those in need, as well as raise awareness of prominent social justice issues. All are welcome to participate in any way possible and to attend a meeting.

Details for our first meeting this year are as follows:

Date:               Tuesday 25 March

Time:               6.30 PM – 7.30 PM

Venue:             Bangawarra Room (on the Coghlan Building balcony – if unsure, just come to                           the statue of Blessed Edmund Rice in front of the Chapel).

This meeting will be about making a plan for the year and looking at what the greatest needs are. On behalf of Raja Touma, Parent SOL Coordinator, we hope to see you there.

St Joseph’s Feast Day Mass

We will be holding an extra morning Mass in the Chapel on Wednesday 19 March, the Feast of St Joseph, husband of Mary and earthly father of Jesus. Mass will be celebrated by Bishop Danny Meagher who will also bless the statue of St Joseph and new vestments donated by some members of the Class of 2023. (The Class of 2024 have also donated a statue of St Joseph, but for the Senior Yard.) The ordinary Friday morning Mass will still take place that week also.

Parents/carers and Old Boys attending this Mass are welcome to stay for a simple morning tea with Bishop Danny following Mass at the Scientia Plaza.

Mass will commence at 8:10 AM, concluding around 8:40 AM. All are welcome!

SOL Service

Many activities have been offered for SOL Service recently and boys have booked in. I ask that once someone commits to an activity that they follow through with it (illness aside). It takes the place of another student who could have done the service and leaves us short for the activity.

We still have spots available for Years 9 and 10 students doing Night Patrol Sandwich Making. Interested students need to contact Mr Herro.

Holiday service working in our gardens will be offered to Years 7 and 8 students soon.

I remind everyone to look at the new documents for SOL Service in 2025, as I am hearing boys talk about things that are no longer accepted. Documents can be found on the TASS Parent Lounge for parents and on all year group CANVAS pages for students, as well as pinned up in every homeroom and around the College for checking.

Thank you for the support you give to this program.
