Confidence and Charisma: SPC Students Lead the Way in CSDA Public Speaking

Last Friday evening, Our Lady of Mercy College in Parramatta hosted the Qualifying Finals Round of the Catholic Schools Debating Association Public Speaking competition. Eight of our very brave and talented students represented St Patrick’s College in this round, the best result we have had in the past ten years – or more!

Congratulations to the following students who represented SPC last Friday in the following cohorts:

  • Year 7 – Oscar Celegon and Marcus Donovan

  • Year 8 – Marcus Gregory and Xavier Tan

  • Year 9 - Camilio Chelala and Wadih Ghossayn

  • Year 10 – Luca Serratore

  • Year 12 – Awtel Haddad

Twenty-five percent of all Sydney students speaking in the Qualifying Finals would progress to the Grand Final to be held this Friday. Yet St Patrick’s doubled that result, with four of our eight speakers successful in moving into the final round. This is especially noteworthy with Camilio and Wadih of Year 8 successful in the Year 9 competition!

Congratulations to Marcus, Marcus, Camilio and Wadih for your impressive speeches last week. Congratulations as well to your coaches and Ms Kristy Bartels who have supported and guided you. We wish you all the best this Friday in the CSDA Grand Final!

The community is encouraged to come along and support our speakers.  The Grand Final will be held at Marist Catholic College, North Shore. Registration commences at 4:45 PM, official proceedings at 5:45 and speeches from 6:00 PM.
