TERM 1 LIBRARY WRAP
As Term 1 comes to a close, we’d like to take a moment to celebrate an exciting and eventful start to the year in the Kyabram P-12 College Resource Library!
This term, we welcomed new students into our library community and celebrated a range of special events, including Library Lovers’ Day, Read an eBook Week, Harmony Day, Very Hungry Caterpillar Day, National Crayon Day, and Easter! Each of these occasions highlighted the joy of reading, creativity, and inclusivity in our space. A big thank you to everyone who joined us for our Hello Morning event, which was a fantastic success! It was wonderful to see families engaging with our library and exploring all we have to offer.
We also introduced new Term 1 Library Monitors, who have done an amazing job supporting their peers and keeping our library running smoothly. Congratulations to our Term 1 Star Reader Jasmine H, whose dedication to library classes and positivity with reading has been amazing to see!
This term saw the launch of new lunchtime clubs, giving students more opportunities to get creative, collaborate, and explore new interests in the library. We also made exciting developments to our library space, including the addition of a new search iPad to make finding books even easier, and a dedicated Wellbeing section, filled with books to support mindfulness, mental health, and personal growth. Our library borrowing classes from Prep to Year 9 have been more engaging than ever, encouraging students to discover new books and develop a lifelong love of reading.
We look forward to seeing you back in Term 2 for even more exciting library adventures!

TERM 1 STAR READER
Each term, the Star Reader Award recognises a student who goes above and beyond in their reading journey. A huge congratulations to our Term 1 winner, Jasmine H (Year 8). Her passion for books, dedication to learning, and enthusiasm in library classes have truly stood out. She has actively engaged in library activities and shown great respect for our shared space.
Well done, Jasmine—keep up the amazing reading! 📖👏
EASTER IN THE LIBRARY
The library has been full of Easter excitement, with students enjoying a range of fun activities and experiences! We’ve had special Easter storytime sessions, themed book displays filled with festive reads, and creative Easter crafts in Creators Club.
In Creators Club, students have been getting crafty, making colourful Easter decorations and their creativity has been on full display. It’s been wonderful to see students working together, sharing ideas, and bringing a creative touch to our space!
Adding to the excitement, students have been taking part in our Easter Riddle Competition, where they’ve had the chance to win a delicious chocolate Easter bunny! During their scheduled library classes, students have been putting their thinking caps on to solve the tricky riddle, with all correct answers going into a draw. The first correct answer drawn at the end of term will determine the lucky winner!
It’s been fantastic to see so much enthusiasm and engagement in the library—well done to everyone who joined in the Easter fun!
LIBRARY SPACE UPDATES
Exciting changes have been happening in the library to improve student access and engagement! We’ve introduced a new search iPad, making it even easier for students to find books and explore our collection independently. We’ve also created a dedicated Wellbeing section, offering a range of books focused on mindfulness, resilience, and mental health to support students in their personal and academic growth.
Additionally, our library has implemented a streamlined borrowing system for fiction books, with categories for Junior Fiction, Senior Fiction, and Mature Fiction. Like many school libraries, we follow guidelines from the department and ALIA to ensure our collection develops and meets the needs of our school community while aligning with student reading abilities. The collection of resources within the college resource library is of the utmost importance, where it aims to also align with our college mission and values.
These updates help create a welcoming, well-organised space for all students—be sure to check them out next time you visit the library!
HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM THE LIBRARY

Have a safe and happy break!
