Eat Up Initiative - Year 6

This term, all of the Year Six students participated in the Eat Up initiative, making sandwiches for kids in need who don’t have lunch to bring to school. We were divided into different roles: runners, wrappers, and makers. Each group had a specific job to do. Before getting started, we washed our hands and put on gloves, ready to begin.

The makers prepared the sandwiches, the runners collected them and passed them to the wrappers, and the wrappers carefully wrapped each one. Once wrapped, the runners placed the sandwiches into large crates, ready for delivery.

Everyone had a great time working together! The wrappers and makers enjoyed their tasks, and even the runners had fun keeping everything moving. By the end of the day, we had made an incredible 1,029 sandwiches—that’s 1,029 kids who wouldn’t have to go hungry!

We also would like to thank Justine Gallacher and Sonja Jamsek for helping us on the day.

Year 6 Parliamentary Committee Session

Our Year 6 students have been hard at work preparing for their first Parliamentary Committee session. As part of their task to review the front playground and suggest improvements, they have been gathering student voice by interviewing all SRC representatives and even some staff members. Over the next two weeks, they will continue their research and collaborate in teams to develop persuasive proposals. Their findings will be presented to the Parliamentary Committee at the end of the month. We can’t wait to hear their ideas!

St John's First Aid - Year 5 & 6

Our Year 5 and 6 students recently participated in a valuable First Aid course run by St John Ambulance. They learned essential life-saving skills, including the DRSABC action plan—Danger, Response, Send for help, Airway, Breathing, and CPR. Through hands-on activities, students practiced assessing emergency situations, calling for help, and performing basic CPR. It was a fantastic opportunity to build confidence and responsibility in responding to emergencies.
