PE

On Friday 28 February students from grades 4-6 participated in a Gala Day at the Waverley Softball grounds.  Students participated in either kickball, teeball, cricket or tennis. All teams worked together displaying perseverance, resilience and positive sportsmanship.

A special shout out goes to Sienna, her communication, teamwork and commitment to being sunsmart, this positive behaviour even drew the attention of teachers from other schools.

Weeden came second overall and congratulations to the cricket A team who will proceed to division later this year.

KITCHEN/GARDEN

We were lucky enough to have such a helpful landscaper (Romeo's Dad) come and setup the grade 1/2 garden bed with the students.  He has given them such a great start to their gardening journey here at Weeden Heights.  We can't thank you enough David!  The students in 1/2 have been checking in on their new plants each day to see how they have changed from the day before.

We have had another great kitchen session since the last newsletter. The theme this time was Mexican. The outcome was absolutely delicious! A big thanks to our wonderful parent helpers for making this session run so smoothly.

The students very carefully planted some carrot seeds in between their radish seedlings during their last garden session. They are looking forward to them sprouting over the next few weeks. They have been checking in regularly so they don't miss it when it happens.

FRENCH

In the younger grades (Prep-2), we often use French characters to do activities. Today, I introduce you to the four puppets that are used to practice oral skills, and to the Barbapapa family that is used to develop listening skills and to complete written tasks.

Last week, the Grade 1/2 students practised spelling numbers with a Barbapapa memory game:
