Junior School

A Message from the JS team

Congratulations to all the year 7 and 8 students for a successful first term. Students are to be commended for their positive transition and for their efforts and achievements throughout the term.

Thank you to the students for their outstanding commitment to their learning. Teachers have sung the praises of our Junior School students who have shown respect, readiness to learn and have developed strong connections as a cohort. There is a big sense of pride, teaching a group of students who are interested in learning, showing kindness towards others and making the Junior School a great place to be. Thank you to each individual student for making this happen.

To our Year 7 students, well done for completing your first term in High School! From the start of the term, there was a positive energy from our Year 7 students who have adapted so well into High School routines. All are now experts at using a combination lock! As the Term progressed, we saw our students embrace many opportunities, from attending the Year 7 BBQ, Alternate Program Day (APD) during Harmony Week as well as extending themselves on Year 7 Camp and Interschool Sport Day.

It was wonderful to see so many of our Year 8 students getting involved at interschool sport day and during the APD. Year 8 students lived out the values of respect and responsibility while listening and learning from our guest speaker during Harmony week, we hope they have shared their experience at home. It was lovely to see students getting involved, being role models and showing leadership in the Junior School.

At our end-of-term assemblies, we celebrate the term. This includes giving out awards for ‘Living the Values’, ‘Maximum Effort’, ‘Commitment to Improve’, ‘Readiness to Learn’ and 100% Attendance. Congratulations to the students who have been nominated by their teachers and received these awards.

Thank you to the families for your guidance and support at home. We know that the successes of our cohort come from the values that our families instil at home. Over Term 2, we look forward to continuing our partnerships with families to extend the learning growth.

We want to wish all the students and families a wonderful, adventurous and safe term break. We look forward to making Term 2 another success.

The Flipside

On May 7 Brainstorm Productions will be presenting their student wellbeing performance ‘The Flipside’ for Year 7 and 8 students. ‘The Flipside’ is a live theatre experience that addresses bullying, online safety, digital citizenship, bystander behaviour and online ethics. The performance highlights the importance of personal responsibility, empathy, respect and values in the online and offline worlds. Real student experiences are woven together to create a compelling story that poses questions about how we treat ourselves and others.

‘The Flipside’ is part of our Alternate Program Day supporting wellbeing and respectful relationships. The performance is supported by curriculum-aligned classroom activities to spark further discussion around these issues.

Brainstorm Productions is one of Australia’s most experienced and respected theatre in education companies, performing to over 260,000 students every year. They offer a range of programs to help schools nurture healthy and harmonious environments, addressing issues such as mental health, online safety, bullying and resilience, and are endorsed by the eSafety Commissioner as a Trusted eSafety Provider.
