PFA Generosity

A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated Parents and Friends Association (PFA). During their general meeting on Wednesday evening, the PFA generously approved the purchase of the following items:

Volleyball Net

Tennis Racquets x 30

Tennis Balls

Dodgeballs x 10

Portable Tennis Nets

This adds to the following items that were purchased this term:

Novels for the 3 - 6’s for their novel studies

Interactive TV for the performing Arts room

The netball rings

Important Confirmation Date Change

We have an important update regarding the Sacrament of Confirmation. Fr. John has informed us that due to unforeseen circumstances, the Bishop originally scheduled for the event will be unable to officiate on Thursday, September 18th.

We are delighted to announce that Bishop Tomlinson has graciously agreed to step in. However, he is only available on Wednesday, September 17th. Therefore, the Confirmation ceremony has been moved to:

Grade 6 Leaders Assembly: Celebrating Student Leadership

Next Wednesday, we will hold a special assembly led by our school captains to recognise and celebrate our specialist monitors. These dedicated students will share insights into their roles and how they support our specialist teachers. They will also receive their monitor and captain badges. We warmly invite all parents to join us for this special assembly next Wednesday at 2:40 PM.

NAPLAN Completed: Congratulations to Year 3 and 5 Students

Our Year 3 and 5 students have successfully completed their NAPLAN assessments this week, tackling Language Conventions and Numeracy. We are incredibly proud of their hard work, dedication, and the effort they put into each test. Students who missed a test will complete them on Monday. For all other students, this marks the conclusion of their NAPLAN testing for the next two years. Results will be sent home later in the year, and we look forward to celebrating their achievements.

Prayer over the Air

"Prayer Over the Air" continues to be a meaningful part of our Lenten journey. This week, 5/6L led our reflections, focusing on the themes of change and appreciating the people around us. As we move through the second week of Lent, we encourage all students to embrace these values in their daily lives.

Our school community is also actively participating in the Project Compassion appeal, supporting vulnerable communities worldwide. The friendly inter-class competition is fostering a spirit of generosity, and we are witnessing impressive contributions. We encourage all students to consider making a personal sacrifice and donating to this worthy cause.

High School Experience: A Glimpse into the Future

Next Thursday, our Year 4 and Year 5 students will embark on an exciting high school experience at Avila College and Mazenod College. This immersive day will provide them with a taste of secondary education, featuring a variety of engaging activities in science, art, and sports. We hope this experience will spark their enthusiasm for the exciting journey that lies ahead in high school.

Congratulations

A big congratulations to Dallas and Natalie for their fantastic in the 2024/2025 States Track and Field Championship on March 8&9.

Natalie: Qualified and competed in 5 events. Her hard work and commitment have paid off. Her results were:1100m Walk - Time: 5:49.73, 3rd Position in the State. Javelin - 17.77m, 4th Position with a massive PB of 2mt. Discuss - 29.20m, 6th Position. 80m Hurdles - Time: 14.35, 12th Position, improving her current PB by 0.2 sec. 400m – Time: 73.43, 18th Position.

Dallas: Unfortunately, Dallas was unwell in the lead-up to the event, but he showed great determination by being present and competing. Despite not being in his best form, Dallas finished 7th best in the State for discus with a throw of 29.9m, having qualified as the 4th best. In hurdles, he finished 22nd, running just shy of his personal best by 0.02 seconds. His results at the competition did not reflect his consistent performance throughout the season. Well done to Dallas for showing great resilience, even in the face of difficult circumstances.

St Leonard's is very proud of both Dallas and Natalie and we wish them both the best in all their future competitions.

Important Reminder: Student Supervision Before School

We've observed an increasing number of students arriving at school gates before 8:30 a.m. Please remember that students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian until the gates open at 8:30 a.m. Teacher supervision is only available from this time onwards.

The safety of our students is our utmost priority. Leaving children unsupervised before school poses a potential risk, particularly regarding traffic and other unforeseen circumstances.

If you are unable to remain with your child until 8:30am, we strongly recommend utilising the services of Camp Australia's before-school care, which is available from 7:30 a.m.
