Assistant Principal's report

Leanne Williams - Assistant Principal

Dear Parents/Carers,

What an incredible first term, filled with so many valuable learning opportunities. From engaging classroom experiences to whole-school events, it has been wonderful to see our students embrace challenges, collaborate, and grow.

As we head into the break, we want to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of our students, staff, and families in making this term such a success. Your ongoing support plays a vital role in creating a positive and enriching learning environment, and we appreciate it.

Wellbeing Captains – Student Voice in Action

Following the Safe, Valued, and Respected (SVR) survey, our Wellbeing Captains took the initiative to gain deeper insights by interviewing Year 1 students about their experiences at school. Their thoughtful questions and reflections have provided valuable perspectives that will help guide our next steps in strengthening student voice, wellbeing, and connectedness.

Harmony Day

Last week, we celebrated Harmony Day, a wonderful opportunity to recognise and honour the rich diversity within our school community. Each class engaged in a special activity created by our Year 6 Wellbeing Captains, focusing on inclusiveness, respect, and belonging. It was heartwarming to see so many students proudly wearing a splash of orange to show their support for this important day.

Other Curriculm Areas for Term 2

Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Survey

Thank you to everyone who took the time to provide feedback via the BYOD Think Tank survey. We appreciate the broad range of perspectives shared. As always, we acknowledge that not every decision will suit every family, but we are committed to making informed choices that balance community input, educational priorities, and our responsibility to uphold the Victorian Curriculum.

Canberra Study Tour

Our Year 6 students will soon be undertaking an education tour of the national capital. Students will be given the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia’s history, culture, heritage, and democracy.

The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion the Australian Government is contributing funding to our school in the amount of $45 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards those costs. The rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion. This amount has already been factored into the overall cost of the excursion.

Wishing you all a restful and enjoyable holiday, and we look forward to an exciting Term 2 ahead.
