Wellbeing

This week our Year 4 and Year 5 girls will take part in Personal Development and Puberty education. The presenters of both sessions will be Lesley and  Genevieve, nurses from Colac Area Health.

This term in the Social Emotional Learning (SEL) classes  students from

Foundation to Year 6 will be participating in the Rhythm2Recovery Program

The Rhythm2Recovery model utilises improvised music instead of teaching specific rhythms. This approach increases access to those who may struggle with coordination as well as fostering self-efficacy, autonomy and creativity.

The exploration of values with individuals forms a central pillar of the Rhythm2Recovery model, both in relation to developing a stable sense of identity, connecting in healthy ways to others, and as a template for good choices and behaviour. https://www.rhythm2recovery.com/the-5r-model/

Our children are also having a great deal of fun experimenting with the different sounds they can make on the djembe drums. Further rhythmic patterns will be explored using hands, feet and shakers.

This week’s SchoolTV topic is Body Image

“Children today are exposed to more discussion about body image than children of previous generations. Parents should not obsess about their own weight issues in front of their children.”

Dr Michael Carr-Gregg
