Foundation:
Foundation students are continuing to develop an understanding of Chinese writing, oral communication and an appreciation of Chinese culture. Students learn counting, body parts, family names, The Olympic Games events as well as about the Moon Festival which is an important Chinese cultural event. They participate in songs, games, chants and a range of cultural activities. Revision of self-introduction, numbers and other previously learnt phrases, e.g. likes/dislikes and colours will be covered.
Year 1:
Year 1 students are developing an understanding of Chinese writing, oral communication and an appreciation of Chinese culture. Students learn about shapes, weather, The Olympic Games events and are introduced to the Chinese Pinyin phonic system as well as the Moon Festival which is an important Chinese cultural event. They participate in songs, games, chants and a range of cultural activities. Revision of self-introduction, numbers and other previously learnt phrases, e.g. likes/dislikes, days and colours will be covered.
Year 2:

They participate in songs, games, chants and a range of cultural activities. Revision of self-introduction, numbers and other previously learnt phrases, e.g. likes/dislikes, colours, days and dates will be covered.
Year 3:

Students learn countries, different nationalities, The Olympic Games events and study the Chinese Pinyin phonic system as well as the Moon Festival which is an important Chinese cultural event. They participate in songs, games, chants and a range of cultural activities. Revision of self-introduction, numbers and other previously learnt phrases, e.g. likes/dislikes, colours, months, days and dates will be covered.
Year 4:
Year 4 students are developing a further understanding of Chinese writing, oral communication and an appreciation of Chinese culture. Students learn countries, different nationalities, The Olympic Games events and study the Chinese Pinyin phonic system as well as the Moon Festival which is an important Chinese cultural event. They participate in songs, games, chants and a range of cultural activities. Students experiment with digital media and take part in short question and answer exchanges.
Year 5:
Year 5 students are developing knowledge and skills in Chinese writing, oral communication, and an appreciation of Chinese culture. Students learn about The Olympic Games events, about Myself, sports and study the Chinese Pinyin phonic system as well as the Moon Festival which is an important Chinese cultural event. They participate in songs, games, chants and a range of cultural activities. Students explore the use of Chinese language on the iPad and take part in short question and answer exchanges.
Year 6:
