Unit of Work and SEL

During this unit, students will delve into the intricate role that science plays in our daily lives. Students will learn about the weather and develop their observational skills as they investigate the weather and seasons.

A special focus will be given to the profound insights into seasons and weather shared by First Nations People, providing students with a unique perspective to compare and contrast with their own understandings. Students will develop and present a weather report to showcase what they have learnt!

Social and Emotional Learning

Students will participate in lessons related to the Resilience, Rights & Respectful Relationships, also known as the 'Quad R' framework. We will also be using the Parachute resource, developed by the Department of Education, to further deepen with this work.

The Respectful Relationships program supports schools and early childhood settings to promote and model respect, positive attitudes and behaviours. It teaches our children how to build healthy relationships, resilience and confidence.

It is important to know that this is part of our curriculum and something that students will be assessed on through the 'Social Capabilities' component in the Victorian Curriculum.
