A message from our School Council
Messages from school council
Meet one of our newest members of school council…
Hi, I’m Betty Maniotas, Athan's mum. Athan is in grade 1, and my other son, Zach, will be starting prep at NPS next year. I recently joined the school council at the end of last year and am really enjoying it. Being an active part of the school council has given me the opportunity to give back to the school in meaningful ways. I love working with fellow parents and staff to enhance our community, foster a strong school spirit, and support initiatives that benefit our children's education and well-being. I believe it's important for parents to be involved and have a say in the school's direction, and school council meetings are a great platform for this.
Fun fact: I also attended NPS a long time ago (1988- 1994!!!) It's amazing to see how much progress the school has made, yet heartwarming that some things have stayed the same.
If you see me during pick up (on the rare occasion Athan’s not at OSH)! please come and say hi! I’d love to connect with more of our wonderful school community.
School council meeting this week…
This week we had our fourth school council meeting of the year. The focus was child safety standards and completing our child safe training which is a legal requirement as part of the VRQA minimum standards. It is always a good reminder of what best practices look like and familiarising ourselves with our school policies- https://northcoteps.vic.edu.au/wellbeing-and-engagement#child-safety
Shaun’s principles report was very positive. The landscaping project is progressing nicely with the Junior school council choosing the play equipment this week, discussing the fantastic Naplan results this year which were published in the last newsletter and showing that our students are excelling at a minimum of 5% better than our similar schools! Our 2025 enrolments were good, and we are now in the process of receiving confirmation from parents of the starters next year which allows the SLT to begin the workforce planning for the whole school for 2025.
Lastly, we received 52 responses to our communications survey which is excellent and will help us make improvements which you will start to see over the coming weeks-thank you for your support and please find our voucher winners below which we picked out during the meeting:
$50 -Emily Ramsay (Harry Ramsay 3/4B)
$20 -Selena Papps (Ari Voight 5/5B)

2025 Fete update…
Following this weeks Compass post from the school council confirming the lead roles that need to be filled to give us the organizational support to pull the event together next year we had a wonderful and heart-warming response. We really do have a great community at NPS! All the roles are now filled except the stall lead coordinator and a ride coordinator.
When we get these final roles filled (I’m feeling positive!) we will come together at the start of Term 4 to get the early planning started and the hand over of notes from those involved in planning last year and make the 2025 as successful, if not better than this years $84K profit!
The lead role positions and descriptions can be found in this weeks compass post from school council or can be sent to you via email if you reach out -1401-npsfete@schools.vic.edu.au
Thanks again to all those that have stepped up this week to support our valuable fete!
