Book Week & Parade

Thursday, August 22

We are very excited to be celebrating Children’s Book Week this year and joining the Big School for a Parade.  This year 'The Children's Book Council of Australia' have launched the theme 'Reading is Magic'.

Children are invited to dress up as their favourite book character (no witch-like characters please) on Thursday Week 5, August 22 as we join the school for a whole Book Week Parade.

8.15am - Coffee van will be available for parents to purchase hot drinks.

8:30am - Children arrive at the ELC and signed in.

8.45am - Parents will move from the ELC to stand behind bunting near the middle primary playground, to form a guard of honour for our parade.

8.45am – Book Week Parade begins moving through the school and outside areas.

Students are invited to dress up as their favourite book character.

If students are dressing up, we ask that they bring a copy of the book that their character appears in.  Throughout the day, these books will feature in read loud sessions with our Educators.

If your child does not normally attend on a Thursday, you are welcome to book them in for the whole day or walk with your child during the parade at school.

There will be dress ups available to children the entire week with lots of time to share in favourite stories, new books, book making and sharing in the new CBC books by Australian authors.

We look forward to getting into character with the children.
