Welcome to Term 3
Well it certainly did not take long to get back into the swing of sharing in the daily rituals of 'living & learning' together at Curiosity, and how wonderful it is to have the Centre full of amazing children. We welcome our new families and pray that you all feel settled soon.
This term is sure to be an exciting one as we prepare for some wonderful school-wide and Curiosity events. This iNewsletter is full of dates to mark in your calendars for Father's Day, Mrs Gliddon's Farewell, Book Week & Parade and Photo Day.
Over the coming weeks the team will commence sending home documentation around what the children will be exploring in their project work. It has been encouraging seeing how the children have been approaching the invitations to explore shells, seeds and worms, and present some fabulous thinking and theories. I look forward to hearing more about where these projects go as the children share their curiosities and findings with each other.
Each week the Lead Teacher's upload a 'Reflection' page of what learning has transpired throughout the week, so be sure to have a read and respond with some of your thinking or encouragements. The team love to hear your feedback.
This will be my 92nd iNewsletter that I have written for the Good Shepherd Curiosity Community! As I place the final touches on this edition, I have gone back and looked over the first ever words I wrote and wish to share them with you.
The Director's Blog - Getting to Know You (September 2019)
"Have you ever experienced a time where a lyric from a song has played over and over again in your head? I adore watching classic musical films such as, 'My Fair Lady', 'Singin in the Rain', 'Wizard of Oz' and 'Mary Poppins'. However, my all time favourite would be 'The Sound of Music', with the treasured Julie Andrews who has put into words how my first few weeks on staff has felt at Good Shepherd Lutheran Primary School.
"Gettin' to know you,
Gettin' to feel free and easy.
When I am with you,
Gettin' to know what to say.
Haven't you noticed,
Suddenly I'm bright and breezy,
Because of all the beautiful and new
Things I'm learning about you
Day by day."
I am confident that as we continue to roll out updates about the CURIOSITY Early Learning Centre that we will have many opportunities to get to know each other and see the beautiful story that God is writing with the lives of our families and the young citizens that will call Curiosity their safe place. A place where they will be loved and cared for, a place where wonder and curiosity abounds and expressions of creativity are endless."
............................................................
My prayer and hope for the future of this community has not changed from this initial introduction to a group of families who trusted in the vision and heart for an early learning centre to be part of the school. How grateful I am to have been entrusted with such a beautiful honour of being the inaugural Director and being gifted with 5 years of beautiful learning opportunities.
I leave my time at Curiosity in reflection of all the people who have come through that Orange Door. A little like the closing credits of a movie, I recall the names of so many people who have made Curiosity a dreamed reality for me, and one that I am confident will continue to have many unfolding beautiful stories written where wonder and curiosity abound and expressions of creativity are endless.
God bless you my friends,
Jacqui
